Number of V.F. Hollywood covers: My first was in 2002, and this makes it my fifth time! Secret makeup weapon: For both ladies, I prepped the skin with Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Masks by 111 Skin and also used my handy facial-massage tools.
Secret weapon in general: Laura Mercier Candleglow Concealer and Highlighter pens for luminous brightness around eye area.
Favorite features on the stars: [For] Natalie, who is fiercely intelligent and politically aware, I love to enhance her golden-brown eyes with a tiny flick of liner on outer corners. Playing with bronze and golden tones can really bring out the gold in her eyes. Dakota is this delicious combination of sweet and badass, and it’s all about her lips—giving them subtle definition with a shade close to her natural lip tone.
Mark Townsend on Dakota Johnson
Number of V.F. Hollywood covers: I’ve assisted on many of the Hollywood covers in the late 90s, but this is my first Hollywood cover on my own.
Secret hair weapon: It’s no secret—I can’t go a day without Dove Dry Shampoo, for volume. It’s the only product I used on her hair for the cover shoot!
Secret weapon in general: I am able to achieve such great texture and movement in the hair with R Sessions Pro Tools Tidal Waver. It’s a double-barreled iron that creates loose bends in the hair.
Favorite features on the star: Every day I work with Dakota Johnson is my favorite day!
