“Fifty Shades of Grey’s” Dakota Johnson will star opposite Andrew Garfield in “Under the Silver Lake.” The film is directed by David Robert Mitchell, who caused a stir with last year’s low-budget horror hit, “It Follows.”
A24 acquired domestic rights to the thriller out of Cannes this week. Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles the summer.
Johnson will reprise her role as Anastasia Steele in “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed,” both of which are currently filming. She is currently starring in Luca Guadagnino’s “A Bigger Splash” opposite Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes and Matthias Schoenaerts. Other credits include “How To Be Single” and “Black Mass.”
Michael De Luca, who worked with Johnson on “Fifty Shades of Grey,” is producing under his Michael De Luca Productions banner. Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Adele Romanski are also producing.
Johnson is represented by WME and attorney PJ Shapiro.
